Ever wondered what our lives would be like if there were no books? Dull and boring, I assume. Because a book is that friend which never makes any demands. It has no complaints as it does not differentiate. Yet makes us happy and gives us wisdom, knowledge, information, entertainment and helps us in making the right decisions always.
Books cater to all kinds of people in the form of novels, magazines, religious or spiritual scripture, comics, journals, fantasies, poetry, travel guides, cooking recipes and more. They are a portal to all kinds of information.
Different kinds of people adapt to different kinds of genres. But the one thing that's common is that books can make you experience a whole new world. Be it J. R. R. Tolkien or George R. R. Martin, they manage to create whole new worlds that feel real to us as readers. It's like actually existing in worlds of The Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones and not Earth.
The bond between the plot and characters with the readers is pretty strong and unforgettable. It leaves an impression on our minds that can last for a lifetime. And it's not just the fantasy genre but tragic fiction can bring things alive. It can make you feel pain and actually live the miserable surroundings and lifestyles of the characters.
Another beautiful thing about books is the connect between the author and the reader. Readers can establish any relation with the author according to their personality and understanding. Not only that but the experiences that we gain by reading books give us insights & new perspectives and broaden the horizons of our imaginations.
Let's keep this relation going strong as we celebrate this World Book Day. World Book Day or International Day of the Book is celebrated annually on 23rd April. It is basically an event organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). The aim of the day is to promote reading, publishing and copyright.
Books can take you on a whole new experience, so this World Book Day let's hope to experience many more lives and worlds and not just Earth.
